First Day Jitters... Paper Pencil or Google Slides

I never get tired of reading this story to my class at the beginning of the year. It is a nice "ice breaker" to let them know that even teachers get a "little" nervous. I also like this story because it leads into talking about emotions. Some students seem leery to say they are nervous or scared but simple things in our life can cause these emotions and that is nothing to be ashamed of!!
I am now sharing two resources.
The print and go packet contains:
Craft...My first day jitters!
Poem...Use text to answer questions.
Anchor Chart with poem
Story Recall...wirte about favorite part and include a picture, story elements, beginning/middle/end
Word Work...word search, synonyms/antonyms, word study, word cards accompanied by 4 suggestions of games and uses
Things that give me the Jitters
Poster ...My First Day
I think you will find this packet enjoyable and one that will enhance your first day or week of school.

Google Slides begins with a delightful poem about the First Day of School
Students will write about their first day of school.
Next students are reminded of the story they just heard.
The activity includes them completing somebody, was, but, so, then and the story ended.  RECALL
The next activity includes a little synonym and antonym work.  Using emotions students sort into the appropriate category.
In the story Sarah "got ready" for school.
Students are then asked to share how they get ready for school.
The packet ends with students solving story problems about school.
So you get a little word work, writing, comprehension and math.
Perfect for distance learning or a literacy center on the computer.
