Oh where, Oh where have I been?

Hi everyone!  The past two weeks have been WILD for me.  I have officially moved from my home of 25 years and am now officially a LAKE GIRL.  There is just one slight problem...the new home I was suppose to move into is NOT DONE so that means storage and renting a TINY TINY house.  Oh well, I am still smiling and have missed blogging with you.  But guess what...I AM BACK!
I took a little time each day to update some OUTSTANDING topics for September and the beginning of October.
The first to come is Grandparents Day!
My packet includes these two delightful story and the suggestion of others.
I am including my family packet as well because Grandparents Day is the perfect lead into a unit on the family!!

Next we move to Johnny Appleseed who celebrates a birthday in September.
This includes an adorable craft and writing/picture topper.  It is filled with writing, reading, word work and literacy activities.  The vocabulary cards are perfect for posting!! 90 pages.

Early in October we visit Christopher Columbus and learn the true story!
In 1492 what happened?  Why was his discovery important?
The craft that accompanies this is simple and fun to make as we watch the ship sale around the world.
Again the packet is filled with reading suggestions, vocabulary cards, a craft and...writing, word work and a bit of mathematics!!

The final packet I am going to cover today is Fire Safety with is also covered the first of October.
This comprehensive packet is filled with poetry, reading, writing, mathematics, and word work.
I love the writing/picture topper and it features one of my favorite stories No Dragons for Tea.
What a delightful twist on fire safety.  Don't have the book...Not to worry...Check out this link...
I do not doubt for a minute that after you listen to the story you will purchase it for your library!

Hope this has helped you to do some advance planning.

Creative Crafts for the Classroom!

I love keeping one bulletin board in my room for monthly themes.
These crafts were designed to decorate this board using a catchy title.
Many of these come from packets you may have purchased.
The kiddos are always so proud to see their work displayed and I always get a giggle out of the differences in creative talents.  Cutting, gluing pieces in the correct spot, and putting on finishing touches.
Some have heads where bodies should be, glue on everything but the project, and cutting that looks like the scissors may not have had a sharp edge.
I actually have a few of the masterpieces that I saved and framed for my three boys as they grew.
Parents love it when these items come home and I guaruntee if you visited the home they just might be hanging on the refridgerator.
So here it is!
Here they are with a closer look...

New Literature...Those Pesky Rabbits!

I am absolutely in love with this new story written by Ciara Frood.
The pictures are absolutely delightful and the story captures your attention.
Bear lives on his own in the middle of nowhere and he likes it just that way.
But one day a family of rabbits builds a home right next to his.
And those Pesky Rabbits continue to come knocking on his door asking for things.
He is annoyed and requests that they LEAVE HIM ALONE!
But there is a twist at the end of the story as the Pesky Rabbits leave a note and a basket on Bear's porch.
It will warm your heart just as it did Bears.  He decides he might be lonely and heads over to make friends with the Pesky Rabbits.
So many beneficial educational topics...vocabulary(pesky, annoyed, lonely, swap), friendship, and as the story takes place the illustrations portray a change of seasons.
You will love it!
Your class will love it!!
To accompany it I completed a packet that will fill an entire day if you wish.
I love the simple craft topper that accompanies this packet.

There is also a freebie for you!!
I am also very impressed with Ciara's Website.
It has a number of activities for your kiddos.

Tremendous Blog Giveaway!!
