Just "clownin" around!!

Well not exactly but in a way.  Today was Circus Day.  I tried to get pumped up for it but I was really just too exhausted from preparing for the end of the school year.  We did have some cotton candy but I have to say I was not that animated.  Too bad teachers can't get a couple days before the last week of school to get ready for the "grand finale".  Such wishful thinking.  I would surely be in a better frame of mind.  Despite my lack of enthusiasm the children did not let me down.  Their papers were wonderful!!  Here are some samples:

These and so much more can all be found in my Circus packet.

READ, READ, READ, READ,READ,READ,READ,READ,READ,READ!

The perfect materials to do just that.
TpT

It was a "poppin" good day...and a freebie!

It never amazes me how well students write after completing prompts.  To think this is the end of first grade writing.  I am impressed!!

Kids just loved this book.  Not only fiction but non fiction mixed in.  Can't beat that!!

After a little taste testing, or shall we say "data collecting", we completed our graph!!

And then to end it all we created this craft and reflection.
This and so much more can all be found in this packet.
TpT

If you click here you can download this "freebie" !

Wish you were here to help me finish off the left over popcorn.  Mmmmmmmm!!

When does a house become a home?

We had so much fun sponge painting our crabs after reading A House for Hermit Crab.
Simple, quick and cute!!

Better late than never!!

This has been a long, stressful year BUT I have still loved these kiddos So here is what I am preparing for them.  I am usually much better organized but with all the meetings to identify all my "special" ones I am WAY behind.  I'd love to hear what some of you are doing.  I do have a packet on TpT if you are interested.  TpT

Slow, steady and "winner"!

Today we continued "reptiles" with turtles and tortoises.  What a great day filled with lots of learning.

And this guy DID make it across the road!  I would have picked it up and moved him but he was a little slimy and a snapper!  So I just slowed up traffic until he or she made it to the other side.

Are you smarter than a 1st grader?

So we are talking about see and sea and singing away when one little gal raises her hand and says...
Oh my gosh Mrs. Henson that reminds me of this book I read about a really funny big word hmmmm you know like son and sun, which she spells for us. From there we had an instant lesson on homophones!  I hadn't even planned it as I was just going to cover ee and ea.  You gotta love 1st graders cause they are surely smarter!!  Note to self...never underestimate a 1st graders ability to learn.
And I think all of you are special so check out my "end of the year" packets that are now on sale!
For my school we are down to 13 more days.

The better to "taste with!

We discovered that a blue whale could fit 50 people on their tongue.
We put two classes together to make 50 children.
Now that's a lot of tongue!!

Winding down...by swimmin around!

I forget how painful the beginning and end of each school year are!
Assessments, students checked out, paper work and ....
To help keep us on track we are continuing our work with "down by the sea".
We have had a "whale" of a time!  Ha ha!
