Friday finally! and "freebie"!!

Final day of gingerbread.  It was the Gingerbread Baby day and we made Gingerbread houses.

Each student donated items.

The results were so cute.  Wish I could share my "Smilebox" with you.
And because of the sweet comment left yesterday I can't leave Friday without a "freebie".
It is a mini book for students to cut, put together and read.  Following they can identify nouns, verbs and adverbs in the story.

Gingerbread Friends...and freebie!

Today is planned for Gingerbread Friends.  We will begin with the story and then a little information gathering and writing.  The activity will end with students editing their writing and sharing their thoughts about where they would go to meet friends.  Oh and of course making a friend to display in our room.

During our "Math 4 You" rotations the children will be focusing on  greater than and less than as well as a little addition fun.  These little frog hoppers are great for kiddos who struggle with counting up and back.  You can find them at Really Good Stuff.
The freebie today is the Addition Page. Click here to download.

Did someone say gingerbread? or "freebie"

ep this week we begin our Gingerbread Unit.  I know it sounds early but I want to get our letters and gingerbread people sent out so we can get responses in return.  I thought I would try and keep you posted on what we will be working on each day and provide you with a little "freebie"!!

When the students enter they will have their weekly journal on their desk as well as a Gingerbread Person to create.

Our writing center words and pictures for incentive.

We will be focusing on Nouns, Verbs and Adjectives

Can you guess what we will make today?
This packaged dough is so easy and tasty too!

Is it Friday yet??? ...a "freebie"???

It seems like Friday because today was our last day for Thanksgiving break.  We had fun making butter today, baking bread and making turkey soup.  Now I look forward to spending time with my three sons, their families and my husband.  I hope each of you finds this Thanksgiving enjoyable and filled with family and friends.  I know I have so much to be thankful for.
I just finished this little packet.  Enjoy the "freebie" if it is of interest.  Michele

Turkey time and tales...

These are the best finds ever!!  First this story is wonderful.  The illustrations and story line are wonderful.  If you don't have this book it is worth the purchase.  My second "find" was the already cut and colorful tissue paper squares.  I put them right to work.  The author/illustrator talked about how she loved making hand print turkeys.  So we each created our own and highlighted the "tail feathers" with the tissue squares. Oh the little joys in life!!  Michele

Excited!!

I just can't tell you how excited I am to use this "Classroom Elf" package in my room during December.  I am hoping it will encourage some "award winning behavior" while plugging away at mastering our standards.
The concept is not new...but I am turning the Elf on a Shelf into my Classroom Elf.  This elf is going to report to ME!!  I hope some of you might find it helpful in your classroom too!  I am including a "sneak freebie" from it!
I am also excited because we only have two days this week.  I am so ready to spend time with "the men in my life", my three sons and husband!  Bet you all are excited for a little break too.  Michele

Late Start...what is rigor?

I am so glad today is over.  I was totally stressed because I was on the team of ELA to provide the inservice for our Late Start today.  We decided we wanted to do a presentation that dealt with the importance of rigor in the new standards.  I thought I would share the PP I prepared for today.  It has two outstanding videos embedded in it.  The one you click the girl holding the flag and the other you click video.  If anyone takes the time to look at this or to watch the videos please comment.  Thursday tomorrow.  Time is really going too fast!!
