Santa's Workshop

Four days and counting!  The kiddos are lively and we still have presents to make.
Pinterest...love you...this is for the kiddos...popcorn, sock from the dollar bin, white tissue wrap and some buttons.

Gift bags for parent gifts...white bag, sponge painting snowflakes or stars, fill with tissues, punch and tie with blue and green ribbon.

Parent gift...each kiddo signs name and date, chooses color and buttons.  Glue stick puts it all together.

OMG, my favorites for our classroom and then for the kiddos to take home.  I have children who still have these from years ago.  I use to use "tube" socks but I can no longer find them but I have a feeling these socks will look perfect.
All socks are purchased at dollar store.
All ribbon is buy one get one free.
Buttons are so cute and a bit expensive for buttons but I couldn't resist.
Socks for snowman were buy a pack get a pack free.
That really helps with the price of things.
Bags for wrapping were donated.
As we work on these I will get pictures out.

Just a thought..

While out shopping today I ran across this wonderful sign...
I absolutely had to purchase this because I believe it is so true.
Those of us that love going to work everyday and teach with excitement and a passion pass that on to their students.  In this...my final year of teaching...I hope people will think this was true about me!

Hello From Near and Far...

I feel like this title is perfect as I am on the airplane now to return to Ohio.  Just spent and amazing 4 days celebrating my Mother in Law's 90th birthday.  She looks great and is still independently living in Florida.  While there I was also able to visit with my parents so the trip was perfect.  Having been gone for Thanksgiving the week before and then missing the 2 Gingerbread days last week I feel...hmmm frazzled????!!!
Tomorrow I will begin with my class Winter Holiday Lights which focuses on Holidays celebrated around the world.  We cover one holiday each day.  A follower wrote and asked if I had anything to enrich this unit so it could be used to meet more Social Studies standards.  The results...Hello From Near and Far.  Each of the holidays covered also has a part in the Hello From Near and Far packet.  I'm thinking I will now truly be covering all I need to about children around the world while connecting to geography, families, languages, food, and so much more.
To check it out there is a freebie on Israel.
This is a sample from the packet on Australia.

Here is one of the Anchor Charts but this information is also in mini booklet form.

Gingerbread fun!

Today was The Gingerbread Baby!  I just love this story and best of all are the creations we take time to complete.  We cut out gingerbread cookies and baked them.  Using milk cartons we hot glued graham crackers on. The best part of course is the decorating.  I then take pillow fluff and put around each house.  If you look down at the bottom you will see more creations on SMILEbox.  Tomorrow we read Gingerbread Friends.  Another neat activity will accompany that story.  Happy December all!
