Common Core Consistent!!

Love this activity as we continue to work toward preparing the class for success.
For the rest of their lives these kiddos are going to have to read for detail using informational text.
Yesterday's activity really stressed this and don't let anyone tell you 1st graders cannot do this!!
Check it out...

We began by reading the little mini book on baby chicks.

We even watched a video of a baby chick hatching to bring a real life experience in.

As we read we used our highlighters to highlight key points.

The students then used the graphic organizer to input their thoughts.

Finally we wrote a final copy that ended with something they still wondered about.

In my opinion...This is valuable stuff for future success.
