Journeys Common Core Theme Connections

Today I said I would share theme connections for Journeys.  As I  thought about it I felt you might appreciate how I plan my lessons and month.  I am sharing with you what I have prepared for August and September but if you download the link below you will get blank ones for you.  I hope these prove helpful.
You will see that a picture of each packet designed to enhance and supplement the topics, lessons, skills, and classroom are added.  The themes almost always have crafts for decorating the room.  As I work I am changing all my packets over to Save My Ink.  I think this will prove helpful in the long run.  It is taking longer than I thought though and there is a big expense in purchasing the clip art.  Time is clicking away before school starts and I hope these will speed up your planning.  Michele

Journeys Common Core...New Products

Our district has adopted Journeys Common Core this year.  Being very fussy about the materials I use with the kiddos I immediately set about creating materials to practice, review, and enrich.  I also have matched up a "unit" to study that relates to the theme of the Lessons.  So here is what I have designed.
Tomorrow I will post all the related curriculum packets.  Each Lesson Packet is $4.00 but if you puchase the Bundle it is a $5.00 discount.  Don't hesitate to contact me with questions.  Even if you don't use Jouneys these are fabulous for your ELA study and contain...Spelling, Vocabulary, Grammer, Writing, and Comprehension Activities related to suggested reading.

Journeys Common Core...1st Grade

Our district has just moved to using Journeys Common Core for the Language Arts portion of our curriculum.
In the past we have been on our own and developed most all of our materials to fit with our Daily Five Teaching Style.
So...I was a bit nervous to see how this was going to fit into all the materials I have created.  After reviewing the materials I put together a packet for Unit One Lesson One...What is a pal?
I am thrilled with how I could combine the idea of back to school, friendship, and reading all in one bundle while teaching spelling, high frequency words, narrative writing, nouns, and reading informational text.
The materials created are meant to extend and provide practice and enrichment as needed.
Have a peek and don't forget to pick up the freebie on nouns!

Getting ready for Back to School...

I am so excited about this "back to school" packet.
It has everything needed to get you ready to "hop" into the school year!
1.You and your students will love to being the year with a darling story about Froggy and his first day. It is perfect for helping kiddos relate their first day to the first day Froggy experienced.
My favorite is an activity that allows the class to "hop" around school and find places they will visit each week...art room, music room, bathroom, lunch room, office and many more. It is a scavenger hunt and the "clues" lead your class to the next location.
2. Two crafts accompany this packet. There is an adorable Froggy craft to decorate your hall or a bulletin board in your classroom. The second is a cute frog that is large enough to welcome students on the classroom door.
3. Just liked Froggy loved his name plate your class will love their frog themed tags with table markers. There are two different themes for you to choose from.
4. Frog themed posters identify your Reading, Writing, Word Work and Math Centers.
5. Twelve vocabulary cards are ready for posting around the room for "write the room" or for putting on your vocabulary chart. They are related to school with a frog theme.
The activities include:
