When is the first day of winter?
Let's find out!
All
parts of the United States experience four seasons. For some states seasons are more defined than
others. In the Northern parts of the
United States Winter and Summer are very different.
Summer
begins June 21st or
22nd and
is the longest day of the year. Winter
begins on December 21st or
22nd and
is the shortest day of the year. If you
live in Australia it is just the opposite.
•Winter
is one of the four seasons.
•Winter
is the season with the shortest days and the lowest temperatures.
•When
it is Winter in the Southern Hemisphere, it is Summer in the Northern
Hemisphere.
•Trees
and plants stop growing in the winter.
•Many
animals hibernate or migrate away from the cold weather.
•Ice
and snow are associated with Winter in many places on the earth.
•Snow,
sleet, hail, and freezing rain are associated with winter.
