I always like to talk the students through the pictures first.

You might even model how to use the pictures and the suggested vocabulary.

Then off they go to write on their own.

For those needing directed learning you can work with them as a small group.

Colorful, simple and teach parts of speech as well as data.

You can have them:

1.  In their journal write three sentences using nouns and verbs from the activity page.

2.  Write in their journal were there more nouns or verbs?  How many more?  How many words altogether?

3.  In their journal pick one of the nouns and write about it.

4.  Write a sentence using a noun and a verb...draw a picture about the sentence.
