NGSS 1st Grade Update

If you purchased one or all of these you MUST go to your TpT My Purchases page and download them again.  I just finished a massive update on each one that will totally enhance you teaching these core standards.  I did not raise the price but certainly raised the quality of each one.
I was shocked at the mistakes I found and the lack of meaningful material the old packets had.
The new ones are products I can be proud of.
So no cost to you!  All downloads are free if they have been purchased in the past.
ENJOY!!

Exploring Plants and Animals...NGSS

This packet is designed to meet the Next Generation Science Standards for Exploring Plants and Animals.  It is filled with activities, experiments and vocabulary to support you in teaching these core ideas.  Assessments have been added to this packet as well as more informational text.
I provide a number of literature suggestions for you to use to support content understanding.
Vocabulary is also available for posting.  Here you will find 6 examples.

Plants begins with a KWL chart and a poster with the core concepts.
There is also informational text.
Not shown is a cover for Exploring plants that you can use for a student folder.
Each key concept is written on a poster and then followed by activities that support it.

Similar patterns are followed with animals.
I have included real photos for students to use for identifying characteristics.
There are 24 for similar characteristics to parents and 8 for how young depend on their parents.
These photos can be used for other identifying features:  protection, fur, camouflage, habitat.

The packet ends with lessons on ME.
It covers traits, genes, heredity, and how we depend on our parents.

Exploring Plants and Animals

This packet was designed to meet the standards for the NGSS KDG.  K-LS1-1, K-ESS2-2, K-ESS3-1
It is filled with vocabulary, informational text, experiments, observations, reflections and more.
The formats are simple and easy to use as tools to present information to students.
They will have a chance to explore and then to reflect on their observations.

Overall standards are written so they can be posted.

Informational text is plentiful and in two differentiated forms.

Vocabulary is colorful and perfect for posting.  Word work can be used in literacy centers.

Students will focus on vocabulary in activities to develop a deeper understanding of the concepts.

There are three experiments that include observation sheets which are followed by reflections.  What did we learn?

There are also lifecycle activities for both plants and for animals.
