The Kissing Hand...Craft and Activities

The perfect story companion for back to school.

Chester is so adorable and the text provides lots of opportunity for comparing and contrasting.

Here is the craft.  It is an adorable Chester.  The kiddos will love displaying their masterpieces.

There is also a handprint poem not shown here for kiddos to take home.

These bookmarks are ideal for encouraging reading.

I run them on heavier paper and then laminate them.

The activities are about the first day.

Compare and Contrast Chester's Day to their own.

Picture them and a school poster.  I like putting these on their lockers.

The mini book is my all time favorite.  They are so cute and parents will love reading them when they bring them home on that first day.

Vocabulary is always included.

This has a word search, a practice page for opposites, and a word meaning.

Math includes sequencing, numbers and number words 1 to 8, and a data collection on how we felt on the first day.

The packet also includes a scavenger hunt for around the school.

1st Day is on it's way and a "freebie"!

We are going to start the year with the story the Kissing Hand.
I will certainly want to go over the vocabulary words.

Next we will tour the school using the clues Chester left us.

And then a little craft to hang.

Working With Words with focus on -ed and -ing.

Working in partners the students will spin and discuss parts of the story.
I love having students work in partners.  It is a great way to build communication skills.

In math we will be collecting data and recording how we felt on the first day.

Chester is going to bring each student a cupcake.
