Insects are interesting!

Today we start a little mini unit on insects.  I embed it into my Language Arts Curriculum so we are reading, writing and building vocabulary while picking up facts on insects.

"Write" ON!!!! Freebie

I wish I would, I wish I could...of had this packet to teach writing as it should (be taught)!
Oh well I tried to rhyme...but the feelings are true.
I took all my classroom tested materials I used throughout the year to create a packet filled with TOOLS for teaching the Common Core Writing grades K to 2.
The beauty of the packet is that it can meet the needs of EVERY child in your classroom.
For you a "freebie"!!

More fun with Eric Carle...and a "freebie"

Hermit Crab was our feature today.  He is so much fun.  No patterns needed for this cute fellow, just sponges, paint, plates and a little imagination for his pinchers and feet.  I am also including a little "freebie" as a follow up to the story.  Enjoy!  Michele
These sponges on a stick are useful for so many projects.  Worth the $$$ invested.

Story responses for Hermit Crab.  Also available are ativities for Word Work and Writing.

Mr. Seahorse...of course

Today we have fun with the sea horse.  It is always such a fascinating sea creature and to provide a better picture of what it actually looks like in the water we watch 2 special videos found on uTube.
We begin the day with a little "what do you know" before the actual story.

For our craft we will sponge paint a seahorse.  Last year I used square sponges.  This year we are trying round.

In our daily rotaions we will be writing about Mr. Seahorse and putting the key vocabulary words in ABC order as well as identifying the parts of speech.

I always like to include a bit of informational text.

Turtle/Tortoise what do you know?

Today we start our author study on Eric Carle which also leads us right into our final lessons for the year on LIFE...air, land, water.
Today is the Foolish Turtle.  It is a favorite and provides many opportunities for compare and contrast.

Back to life...back to reality...back to school we go...

What a marvelous vacation I had.  I think it is always good to get away for a bit so you can appreciate what you are returning too BUT that is awful hard to do when you have to leave paradise behind.
I have missed all my "blogger" friends and am trying to catch up.
This week I will try to post a product designed to add excitement to the end of the school year and a "freebie".  Enjoy!! Michele
