Mardi Gras...Feb. 9th, 2016

If you are interested in teaching your students about traditions and activities taking place around the world this packet is perfect for a mini lesson on Mardi Gras.

It has two forms of informational text.

One a mini book that can be copied for each student and the other a print and fold book.

Following these is a Fact or Opinion page.

Encourage students to use the text to prove their answers.

Vocabulary with pictures for posting is included as well as several Word Work pages for building word recognition and definitions.  These are perfect for your literacy center.

Writing is also included.

And I didn't forget math for cross curricular experiences.

The craft is simple and does not take a lot of paper.

Wouldn't a class photo with these be fun!

Read...Write...Word Work...and Crafts with Informational Text

This packet is perfect for the Informational Text part of the Literacy Standards.  It supports students reading informational text and then using the information they read to build their vocabulary, recall facts and report.  This is all done using two favorite Spring Characters...the Bunny and the Chick.

Let's take a peek of what all is included!

The pages for the Bunny and the Chick are basically the same so we will take a look at Rabbits.

It begins with a 8 page mini book filled with factual information about rabbits.

This is followed by a mini Reading for Detail page about rabbits for those who you feel need more practice.

This text is then followed by a number of activities that help students gather the facts they read and write about them.  I tried to mix up the styles and the difficulty.  Writing pages include your choice of primary writing line or plain lined.

I also added key vocabulary because I think building definitions and key words is important in leading to a better understanding of informational text shared.

Finally I added a couple of math activities that you can add into your math stations to add a connection to the literacy section.

And the crafts are adorable.  Simple and perfect for a bulletin board or displaying writing.
