Let's Write September!

YES!!  My class can write and feels confident about writing.
I remember students coming to my room and their first writing would be similar to this.
I went swimming over the summer.
It was fun.
It was really really fun.
I liked it a lot.
This is where I would SCREAM!!
In part this is where these writing lessons evolved from.
I believed writing needed to be modeled and that students needed to edit their work in order to see where their mistakes were.

The Interactive Google Slides encourage student writing on the computer.
I am always amazed art how students can type even using hunt and peck.
The neat things about these slides is they can be displayed and shared with others.
They also pair perfectly with the paper pencil resource.
Slide One:  All about summer (text).  Write about your summer.
Slide Two:  Using AND to connect two ideas.  Pictures support student writing.
Slide Three:  All about families. (text)  Write about your family.
Slide Four:  Punctuation.  Click and drag the correct punctuation to the correct sentence.
Slide Five:  Johnny Appleseed (text)  Use the text to write about Johnny Appleseed.  Text is highlighted to support writing.
Slide Six:  Adjectives  Using adjectives to describe an apple.
Slide Seven:  Assessment  Pictures support vocabulary and ideas.  Student prepare an independent paragraph or sentence.

There is a Let's Write resource for every month.
Each month there are 4 lessons presented.
Each lesson contains:
Lesson Plans
A Literature Suggestion to engage students and encourage discussion which builds creative thoughts.
A Grammar Lesson which students are encouraged to demonstrate in their writing.
3 Differentiated Graphic Organizers for gathering ideas.
3 Differentiated "First Write" pages which will be edited by the teacher and the student.
3 Differentiated "Final Write" pages which can be collected to create a class book or saved and used for a student writing journal so student writing improvements can be seen.
