Daddy's Back to School Shopping Adventure

What a delightful story Alan Sitomer has created. It is enhanced by the adorable illustrations of Abby Carter.
Every student has certainly experienced the "back to school shopping trip" so making connections to Jake and Jenny's adventure will be so much fun!
The activities in the packet are designed to meet early readers and more advanced by differentiation.
I have created a packet to follow the story and it includes:
18 colorful vocabulary cards with pictures for posting, sorting, ABC order.
Word Work:
ABC order
Word Search
Definition...nostalgia Making Words
Vocabulary Sort for school supplies (by picture and word)
Writing:
Making a list
Opinion: Only buy items on the list
Story Comprehension:
Story Elements
Story Order
Character Identification
Text to self connections
Sensory
Math:
Shopping...money (two levels of difficulty)
Read the story and spend an entire day filling curriculum expectations and standards!!

To accompany the packet I created these Google Slides.
They are ideal for Distance Learning OR the Computer/Literacy Center.
The activities include click and drag and some typing.
Slide One:  Match school supply to word
Slide Two:  Click and Drag school supplies to the shopping cart.
Slide Three:  ABC Order
Slide Four:  Write a paragraph about school supply shopping.
Slide Five:  Read and type B M E of story.
Slide Six:  Making words from the letters in NOSTALGIA  (click, drag, type)
Slide Seven:  Shop for supplies and add the total cost.
Simple and an extension to the story shared.

Back to School Shopping Adventure with Daddy!

This story is so much fun.  It will bring a smile to your face as well as your students.
I bet many of them will even relate to the experience this family had.

The book can be found on Amazon.

Kiddos can practice adding prices of school supplies.

Word work includes colorful vocabulary cards for posting.

I love the comprehension with story recall, story elements and sensory.

Then your class can work with what goes to school and what stays home, making their own list and matching supply to the word.
