Red Ribbon Week Activities!

October 23rd begins the start of Red Ribbon Celebrations around the world.
This week of awareness focuses on a Drug Free Life.
This packet focuses on building positive characteristics and healthy habits.
This is another opportunity for you to support building students who are kind and appreciate themselves.
I like to begin the week with this special book by Jamie Lee Curtis:
I'M GONNA LIKE ME
Following reading this story students focus on what makes them special.
They write about it and we showcase it with these adorable characters.

There are key vocabulary words for posting which are characteristics of healthy behaviors.
The word search is ideal for the literacy center.
I use the prewriting page to help students gather ideas to write a paragraph about how they stay healthy.  Again focusing on healthy habits and characteristics.
From there you will find two activities that focus on healthy habits and unhealthy.
There is a cut and paste sort as well as a read and decide.
My favorite is the gumball machine...I "CHEWS" TO BE HAPPY!
Students add comments on the gumballs and paste them on the machine.
They look adorable displayed.

You will also find an interactive mini book for just say no!
This is me.
Medication not given by your parents is dangerous.
Smoking is not a healthy habit.
What are two healthy habits?
