My Brave Year of Firsts ... Paper Pencil or Google Slides

This story is adorable, especially for "First" graders!!
But really any age would love it.
The pictures are delightful and the experiences are ones anyone can relate to.
There are two resources here to accompany the story.

The Google Slides are ideal for distance learning as well as a computer center or literacy center.
They are a delightful follow up to the story.
It begins with a list of FIRSTS and students then share a first that made them laugh, nervous, proud or excited.
I think this would be particularly fun to do with a parent and recall the events together.
Next students recall the FIRST day of school.  It might be the recent year or their first day of kindergarten.
Then students compare and contrast FIRSTS they had to FIRSTS the girl in the story had.
FIRSTS include the five senses and students will recall a FIRST they saw, smelled, touched, tasted and heard and how they made them feel.
Word work is also included using vocabulary from the story.  Parts of speech are identified and students write using the three parts of speech.
Example:  I got a new bike to ride.
They are then asked to write about that sentence.
The slide presentation ends with some math fun using subtraction and solving riddles.

Jamie Lee Curtis and Laura Cornell share a delightful story My Brave Year of Firsts.
Your children will love listening and then spending the day relating their firsts to those of the character in the story.
The theme focuses on:
The First Day of School
My Firsts
The packet begins with two delightful crafts.
Students write about a first or the first day and then create cute "kiddos" to decorate your classroom.
The packet continues with...
Writing:

Pictures of favorite firsts
Writing about a first using 2 key details and an opening and closing sentence
Writing a paragraph about firsts
Graphic Organizers and Final Writes
Recall:
My brave year of firsts...finish the sentence
Specific parts of the story
The conclusion of the story
My firsts....emotions
My first day poster
Word Work:

Your class will enjoy the day recalling some of their favorite FIRSTS!
